Description
The reproduction of 'Head of a Skeleton with a Burning Cigarette' by Vincent van Gogh is made in Amsterdam and finished in a unique way. Small nails are hammered into side of the canvas by hand, giving this reproduction an authentic look. The Giclée printing technique and the HDR inks ensure a colour fastness of more than 100 years.
This skeleton with a lit cigarette in its mouth is a juvenile joke. Van Gogh painted it in early 1886, while studying at the art academy in Antwerp. Drawing skeletons was a standard exercise at the academy, but painting them was not part of the curriculum.
